This classically designed home is beautifully placed on a unique wooded lot in the Memorial Park/Crestwood district in Houston. We were contracted from the blueprint conception.
The internationally renowned architectural firm of Ike Kligerman Barkley designed the home. We were involved with all interior finishes and the decoration of this home. The architecture is in the Federal style of America.
One of the spectacular details of this home is the very detailed and extensive woodwork packages that included crown mouldings, overdoors, pilasters, door casings, and baseboards that we meticulously designed. Although we held true to this period of architecture, we wanted to still have a fresh and modern approach to our style of decorating.
“Furnishings are from around the world and reflect same Empire and neoclassic period.”
We selected a timeless white color for all of this woodwork package and contrasted it with beautiful shades of grays, platinum, and charcoal in paint and interesting wall coverings. The different patterns and styles of wall coverings add a layer of depth and interest in the areas they are placed. For the hardwood floors we chose a dark walnut in a high polished finish, For the tile package we went with Italian white carrera marble and gray limestones.
We did a variety of honed and polished in sizes that varied from mosaic, large scaled tiles, to slabs. For the clients we put together a very special art collection that required a focused lighting package to highlight each piece. The clients entertain frequently and wanted a very specific look that would be dramatic at night. One of the highlights of this home is the large scale modern farmhouse kitchen, walk in coffee bar/pantry, and breakfast area.
We designed it for aesthetics but also function for every day use and frequent catered events, The clients wanted ample storage for dishes and serving pieces. All of this attention to details in the construction phase created the perfect background.
For the decoration and design of the furnishings the clients wanted a very European look that looks collected and reflects their world traveling. Although we enlisted the use of many antiques, we also added contemporary pieces of furniture as well as art that made for a very interesting mix. The furniture has many French, Italian, and English pieces. We also added Russian furniture, art , and accessories to their collection. We continued our color palette of gray, platinums, and charcoals for the fabrics for upholstery and drapery for his project. We accented the grays with golds to add warmth. Custom carpeting and area rugs are throughout the home that completed our design vision, Each pattern was selected to help bring a specific personality to the room. Drapery and window covering actually play a large part in the design concept in this home to complete the background. The client wanted drapery that would be fitting to the architecture of each room.
This was a very interesting project and we were thrilled with the results. It made the cover of Luxe Magazine and they featured the article. The clients are very excited with their new home.
