RICHMOND RESIDENCE

This amazing story begins when three sons wanted to surprise their parents with a complete design renovation for their Richmond home. We started from scratch on an empty house and turned it into a warm and inviting home. The only caveat was it all had to be done in 8 weeks, including Christmas decorations!
The clients are a prestigious family from Ghana and we also wanted to include the colors and cultural touchstones that would remind them of home.

The Results
The home was specifically designed not only for their parent’s year-round home, but also for family visits with children and grandchildren. The large transitional two-story home features an entry with a linen covered chest of drawers accented by a decorative mirror. An iron cow hide bench is incorporated into the entry adding an authentic Texas touch. The custom stair runner created in herringbone and taupe leads the way into a fun, relaxing game room. The game room has a state-of-the-art pool table with an interchangeable top for ping pong. Tonal damask antique ottomans add character to the game room along with the tribal upholstered high-backed game table chairs.
The guest suites are rich in textures with a pops of color. Comfortable seating groups are in cream and taupe with ethnic prints in espresso and orange. The dining room table has a gorgeous ceruse wood top, that is complimented by high back wing chairs. The pattern of the custom Persian rug and Cuba cloth add a multi-cultural touch to the room. The master bedroom is light and airy with silk draperies offering up a formal touch. For color, there are multi-colored throws accentuated by woven table lamps.
The boy’s guest suite creates a welcoming environment that comfortably sleeps up to eight boisterous boys. The faceted lamp with a linen shade adds playful textures without being too juvenile. Kilim print ottomans and striped fabric bedding provide a relaxed casual feel. The girl’s room is just as inviting with fun floral prints and mercury glass lamps. The spunky Tibetan sheepskin ottomans create interest.
The terrace off the game room is outfitted in Sunbrella fabric and resin wicker furniture with mixed accents of aluminum and wicker, a perfect get away overlooking the pool. The outdoor area is like an oasis from chaise lounges by the pool to comfortable group seating. The vibrant orange accent pillows playfully tie in the living room colors. The pool is resort style with LED features centered by a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, perfect for large family gatherings.
